Industry-leading competitiveness and a diversified product line-up will boost our further growth.
Excellent production technologies, highly efficient work processesprocess, optimal dockyards, and the perfect location for shipbuilding block manufacturing
Sejin Heavy Industries boasts the very best locations and technical advantages in manufacturing mega-sized shipbuilding blocks, such as deck houses and LPG tanks. Indeed, we rank among the world’s top companies in the field when it comes to our production capacity of deck houses and LPG tanks. Our unrivaled product competitiveness has been proven time and again by our rock-solid partnerships with some of Korea’s biggest, most prestigious shipbuilders, which includes Hyundai Heavy Industries and Hyundai Mipo Dockyard.
It is our firm belief that the deck house market will continue to provide us with a stable revenue stream well into the future, as it is a necessary part for all types of ships. Equipped with various different functions, including a control room, cabin, and dining room and lounge, building a deck house requires high level of technology and knowhow.
Our experts believe that LPG tanks will lead the company’s growth in the years to come due to the recent shale gas development boom in North America, which in turn is propping up market demand for LPG carriers. Mounted on LPG carriers that transport propane gas or butane gas and other liquefied petroleum gases, the LPG tank market has a very high entry barrier because it necessitates highly advanced technology to keep the container temperature below -42℃.
Furthermore, Sejin Heavy Industries manufactures a variety of mega-sized ship blocks that entail industry-leading techniques and production requirements, such as upper deck units.
Diversifying our product line-up with core technologies to lead future growth
Sejin Heavy Industries is strategically diversifying its product portfolio, from just deck houses and LPG tanks, in order to hasten its exploration of overseas markets.
In 2014, we successfully delivered the first living quarters for an off-shore oil rig that we built using our own deck house technology and knowhow to Hyundai Heavy Industries. A year later, we inked a KRW 24.8 billion deal to build living quarters for the same client, completely diversifying our business portfolio through just a single contract. In the future, we will draw upon our resident area production technology to further expand our product line-up beyond living quarters to include more products for accommodation barges and e-houses.
More recently, we concluded a contract to supply ammonia tanks to Vigor Industrial in the U.S., and expect this will serve as a stepping stone in our pursuit of more opportunities in overseas markets. As ammonia tank construction requires LPG tank-building technology, this contract is clear proof that our LPG tank-building technology ranks among the world’s very best. Sejin Heavy Industries actually laid the groundwork for entering the global market back in 2012, when our local subsidiary in Vietnam supplied deck houses to Hyundai Vinashin Shipyard.
Going forward, Sejin Heavy Industries will make further efforts to develop our technologies and production capabilities in the core technologies of shipbuilding and other off-shore facilities.
