About Hardfacing - usage & applications
Features, functions, usage information
- Hardfacing is one of the metal surface hardening buildup weldings to coat the surface of objects with metal powder, utilizing the plasma welding equipment named PTA (Plasma Transferred Arc). The features are as follows:
- To easily regulate heat input, and allow for high density penetration.
- Excellent welding properties, becasue the hardfacing method is a melting welding and provides metallurgical cohesion to the parent metal.
- Less influence under welding heat, less decrease in strength, and less transformation to the parent metal.
- High pure and low diluted buildup metal can be obtained.
- Thanks to a highly-organized computer system,
- All process variables are automatically and precisely controlled by the system
- Zero-defect and fast production.
- High productivity
- Cost saving.
The products made by the welding process above have following features:
- Prolonged operating life of parts of mechanical equipments.
- Enhancement on operation ratio by shortening a halt in the operation.
- Improvement in productivity and production cost savings by lengthening parts life cycle to the full.
- This equipment uses not welding rods but metal powders so that it makes metal composition easy, and a variety type of buildup metals can be obtained. Among these various metal powders, KSP specially uses only a welding agent named Stellite.
Stellite, cobalt-based alloy for hardening buildup welding, offers superior performance to any other alloy in heat resistance, corrosion resistance, and abrasion resistance. Stellite remarkably enhences product life and quality by doing the buildup weld on the suface of objects. In spite of its high price, as Stellite has abrasion resistance property and corrosion resistance property at the same time, it has popularly been used for seat frame of ship engine, industrial valve disk surface, chemical plants, power plants, and steel plants.
