Since its establishment in May 1980, the Korea Marine Equipment Association (KOMEA) has proudly played a pivotal role in elevating South Korea from a barren land in the shipbuilding industry to a global shipbuilding powerhouse. Our marine equipment industry has evolved into a crucial component of the world-class Korean shipbuilding and marine industry through the development of advanced technology, cultivation of design capabilities, and top-notch quality management. The success of the Korean shipbuilding and marine industry has been driven by the dedication of many individuals. We express our deepest gratitude and respect through this message.
We have pondered what has fueled the growth of the marine equipment industry. My conclusion is that it ultimately comes down to 'technological prowess. ' Our marine equipment industry has secured excellent technological capabilities by valuing the role of 'engineer' as the highest value. This technological prowess is our lifeline. We will continue to strive to ensure that government policies for technological advancement take root in the field through ongoing policy-making efforts.
Our association, which comprises top-leading member companies, will not rest on its laurels. We will spare no effort in providing support for continuous development. To this end, our association will expand member-customized support programs with the core value of the 'Ocean Value Chain,' fostering connections and cooperation with the shipbuilding and marine industry. We will continue to promote exhibitions for market development, dispatch trade missions, and expand international exchanges. In particular, we will actively utilize our subsidiary, the Global Support Center (KOMEC), to enhance our domestic and international networks, including branches in Singapore, China, Russia, and Greece, to fulfill our role as a hub for our marine equipment companies' entry into overseas markets.
