Rising leader in the world of submarines

DSME’s submarine history builds upon the Korean navy’s submarine programs. Beginning with its construction of KSS-I submarines for the Korean navy in the late 1980s, DSME also participated in the following projects, KSS-II, KSS-III, as well as numerous submarine overhaul projects. As the contractor to supply the Korean navy’s next-generation 3,000-ton KSS-III submarines, DSME has proven its capability to design and construct submarines independently.

With accumulated expertise in submarines, DSME is offering its solutions to the export market as well. Beginning with the overhaul of an Indonesian submarine in 2004, it successfully won contracts to construct three submarines for the Indonesian Navy in 2011.

With the highest defence export records in Korea, DSME is actively moving forward to expand its market share and be the world’s foremost player in the global naval ship market based on experience and technical expertise.
